The Data Discovery & Privacy Data Analyst will, in partnership with Legal, InfoSec and other key stakeholders, play a key role in supporting the build of a new service to ensure controls (related to usage and governance) over PII and sensitive data such as policies and procedures are established and enforced across the firm to confirm that PII and sensitive data is collected, stored, used, and shared appropriately.
This role will report to the Team Lead Data Discovery and Privacy as a member of the Data Governance Products and Services team.
What you'll do:
- Support the activation of a new service within Data Governance Product and Service offerings
- Support and implement data standards and data governance controls to enable the firm to, for example, quickly, confidently, and efficiently respond to data breaches or new regulatory requirements or comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations and avoiding regulatory penalties
- Representing Data Governance, collaborate with Legal and Information Security peers to protect our client and employee privacy data against improper use or exposure through assessments, templates, and integrated controls management
- Support and enable Data Stakeholders to apply data governance to PII and sensitive data, define data privacy controls, and enable data protection/security
- Be informed on privacy laws, company guidelines and policies, and industry best practices
- Provide appropriate guidance, education, training, and communication to all relevant stakeholders
- Identify and monitor key performance indicators to measure service success
- Support the development and execution innovative solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the discovery and governance of sensitive data
Project Details
This particular position will be focused on helping the firm mature its Data Privacy & Risk service. Focuses for 2023 will be scaling the existing privacy review process to ensure that privacy and risk is well-understood for data that supports the firm's 2023 objectives. In addition, the team will build requirements for and select a tool that will streamline DRP functions, improve accuracy, and add automation functions.
Team Details
Data privacy and risk team currently has one full-time associate and will likely be growing in 2023. The team works with the larger DG team, which is 20 people. The team also regularly engages with stakeholders in the legal department's information and data protection area.

Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Experience working on data governance/privacy initiatives in either an enterprise or local environment.
- 5 years of experience in roles related to data governance and/or data privacy. Relevant business/data analyst, operations, legal, or security experience will be considered
- Experience working with and influencing business stakeholders in promotion of consistent principles and standards
- Knowledge of data governance and data privacy best practices and its application to business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets
- Knowledge of data privacy and data protection including applicable regulations and the handling of sensitive information
- Knowledge and experience with data analysis and enterprise metadata management, especially in the context of Privacy and Data Lifecycle use cases
- Familiarity with leading industry data governance and data privacy tools
- Experience executing privacy and risk data standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using and establishing requirements for a data privacy tool such as BigID, OneTrust, Securiti.ai, etc.
What will set you apart:
- Financial Services industry experience desired. Asset management or broker-dealer industry experience a plus
- Bachelor's Degree in privacy, compliance, computer science, analytics, or related field preferred
