Job Posting for Field Engineer Internship at NexTier Completion Solutions
Our Field Engineer Internship is an opportunity to experience a field-based engineering role in the O&G services industry. You will gain experience in one of the product service lines: Hydraulic Fracturing, Wireline, Cement, or Power Solutions in a 10-week summer program. Our Field Engineers Internships work consistently throughout the summer completing teamwork, field work, and projects.
Position Summary
The Field Engineer Internship will gain firsthand experience in the daily activities of well-completion operations, well construction, or well-support operations. The Internship will be predominantly on well-site locations with an emphasis on hands-on training. A training course will kick off the summer with safe equipment maintenance and operating procedures. The Field Engineer Internship will then progress to an Engineering Focus course covering engineering aspects of fluid design, simulation software, and/or lab testing. After initial training, Interns will spend the majority of the summer gaining hands-on experience in the field in a specific PSL.
Key Accountabilities
Learn well site safety.
Learn the major components of the equipment.
Learn proper operating procedures for equipment.
Assist equipment operators with maintenance.
Assist equipment operators with daily duties.
Learn all design systems for the specific PSL.
Learn all consumables needed for a PSL, and how to implement them in the operation.
Assist DPOs, Engineers, and Operations Engineers with pre-job testing and setup.
Learn equipment operating and data simulation software.
Assist the Engineer in consumables ordering.
Assist the Engineer in completing a job from start to finish.
Communicate frequently with your mentor and your supervisor.
Learn Company integrated completions equipment while on location. Learn Company Standard Operating Procedures and become familiar with data acquisition and modeling systems.
Comply with all Company safety rules and Company policies.
Attend project team and technical review meetings at the district level, as possible.
Learn and maintain a good knowledge of oilfield chemistry.
Perform all other job duties assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office applications, Excel, MS Word, etc...
Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
Multitasking, interpersonal communication and attention to detail are all required skills.
Learn from Equipment Operators, Data Pump Operators, and Engineers.
Provides individuals with timely information so that they can make accurate decisions.
Provides tactful, direct, and actionable feedback to others. Confronts people’s problems and stressful situations head-on.
Able to solve problems using logic, judgment, and data to determine effective solutions.
Minimum Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Junior level preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Driver's License required.
