What are the responsibilities and job description for the New Flyer of America - Cell Leader position at NFI Group?
Position Goal: To lead the manufacturing cell in reaching output requirements through the efficient use of provided resources by following documented processes. Support the key operating principles of Safety, OPEX, our lean journey, continuous improvement of our employee’s, our process and our product. Maintain a high standard of Quality in meeting our customer expectations.
Essential Functions
1. Support all company safety initiatives. Conduct weekly safety walks, enforce all safety policies, ensure all employees are trained in safe work procedures, submit hazard and spill reports as required.
2. Support OPEX through both weekly 5S and monthly world class audits, Maintaining the housekeeping checklists and Coordination of continues improvement activities.
3. Maintain the quality output of the cell, facilitate and lead the self-inspection process, support the management of material through the MRB review following up on al rejected material from the cell. Support all quality training to ensure all required material and tools are available to support first time quality.
4. Lead the Manufacturing cell by coordinating the daily cell meeting will a focus of achieving the goal of 100% build in station requirement. Present the result and corrective action based on the weekly review of the cell metric results. Ensure active participation from the supporting department of Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and the Material group.
5. Maintain the production schedule through the coordination of both in station and out of station requirement, Scheduling of overtime as required, cross training the employees to ensure adequate levels of availability at all times. Attend both SWAT and Pre-production meeting, coordinate ECO completion as required.
6. Interface with other cells and departments ie – Engineering, the Material group and Human resources in order to resolve issues affecting the performance of the cell or the condition of the product, all in a effort to support of a build in station requirement.
7. Daily report out of the condition of the cell, including out of station hour utilizing live bus and the dispatch, unexpected issue and delays, bus move status and recovery plan including overtime as required.
8. The management of personnel issues, conduct daily toolbox talks, respond quickly to all employees' concerns, document and conduct employees' reviews on time, maintain employee time and attendance records, conduct discipline meeting as required, maintain a visual vacation schedule in the cell, support training needs and requirements. Interact with the HR dept as required to address employee’s issues as required. Support the hiring process as required.
9. Support the administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement – ensure compliance is maintained, understand the Cell Leader role in the grievance process
