Job Summary:
The primary objective of the Claims Analyst in the role is to support the Senior Cargo Claims Manager. In that regard, the Claims Analyst will be responsible for the efficient entry of cargo claims from our customers; the acknowledgment of said claims; and ultimately the resolution of cargo claims. They will initiate file set up, payments, denials, negotiations and/or subrogation of claims on behalf of NFI and its customers. The position will require coordination of reporting to the separate divisions within NFI . The position will also involve dealing with ad hoc issues relating to cargo loss or damage. This position reports to the Senior Manager-- Cargo Claims at NFI.
The secondary objective of the Claims Analyst is to support the claims team as a whole when time permits by helping the Work Comp team with projects and support when and if time allows or in emergencies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Enter customer cargo claims into NFI’s internal claims system & records the claim accordingly
Communicate with both internal and external Customers professionally verbally and in writing.
Corresponds with Cargo claimants providing acknowledgment of claims through resolution of claims.
Submits initial demand to the motor carrier of record, and follows up to resolution of claims
Handle the financial settlement of cargo claims.
Will need to be fluent in all operating systems used throughout the organization
Provide clear and straight-forward expectations to internal management and customers as needed
Provides departmental related correspondence and monthly/quarterly customer reports as needed under direction of Cargo Claims Manager
Coordinate claim reporting with NFI’s insurance carrier on cases meeting specified criteria
Assists NFI Security with gathering of data and documents related to thefts
Performs other duties as assigned in the Cargo space as well as duties outside Cargo space for the overall claims team as well.
Requirements:
BA or BS degree preferred, High School GED or equivalent required
Computer applications using MS Office
Microsoft Excel advanced ability is a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong verbal, written and listening skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrate professionalism and mutual respect working with employees and external vendors.
