Job Summary:
The Regional Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the coordination and management of all inventory control functions within a NFI Distribution Region. Will provide input and support to other facilities engaged in the inventory control process. This position will report to a Distribution, Regional Vice President.
This position can be located in NC, SC, GA and FL with 50% - 75% travel required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages and maintains inventory as required by customer orders while minimizing inventory and carrying costs for assigned geographical region.
- Minimizes inventory and carrying cost, replenishing inventory as required by customer orders.
- Oversees the weekly cycle counts for accuracy.
- Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.
- Follow up to ensure compliance and consistency of policies and procedures surrounding inventory control and quality.
- Will customize inventory procedures for each facility depending on WMS in place.
- Oversees the WMS systems to ensure that all procedures are being followed properly and in a timely fashion.
- Ensures that customer requirements for their inventory are being properly followed.
- Plans, executes and reconciles physical inventories.
- Prepares analysis of adjustments activities report.
- Researches to reconcile inventory discrepancies and to find root cause.
- Investigates or reports reasons for discrepancies.
- Partner with the senior on-site leadership teams to drive quality at all levels.
- Develop and execute daily, weekly and monthly action plans that improve quality, Inventory accuracy and service.
- Identify and report on Inventory defects that aid root cause analysis and error proofing which are central to consistent quality improvement.
- Teach and influence distribution managers and associates on the importance of Inventory Control ∧ Quality Assurance.
- Manage and update weekly/monthly metrics for assigned facilities and region.
- Assists in job related projects as needed by RVP.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 7-10 years working in Inventory within Distribution environment
- Experience managing with Warehouse Management Systems (WMF), preferably Manhattan
- Strong analytical, mathematical or data analysis bias.
- Exceptionally technically competent with a proven capacity to become a subject matter expert (SME) within the given role.
- Experience with Lean, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma tools
- Significant experience in Inventory & Quality Assurance Management, with the proven ability to show improvement in a continually developing environment.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel & amp;, Word, Visio and PowerPoint.
- The ability to drive process improvement initiatives.
- Must be flexible in adapting to changing environments
Other:
- Travel up to 15%
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
- Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walking in the FC and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
- Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations.
- Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed by the customer.
