We are recruiting for an Interim DON to work with our facilities in north Alabama (Huntsville, Madison, Athens, Crosville, Jacksonville, Cordova, Double Springs)

Under the direction of the VP of Clinical Services and Facility Administrator plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in the role of Acting Director of Nursing as stand in until a permanent replacement is hired, orientated and transitioned and/or assist current DON and Regional Nurse Consultant with implementing plans. Ensure that the highest practicable level of quality care is maintained at all times.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing
    Previous experience in the role of Director of Nursing in skilled nursing facilities – 5 years preferred
    Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations for long term care
    Demonstrate strong leadership, and interpersonal skills
    Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.
    Presents a professional appearance and behavior
    Ability to problem solve and execute with efficiency
    Ability to make independent and sound decisions
    Excellent nursing assessment, documentation, and written/verbal communication skills.
    Computer literacy and knowledge of electronic documentation.
    Must be able to travel extensively, accepting open ended assignments in facilities as needs arise
    Must be able to meet the requirement for extended stays in various out of town locations.
    Capable of maintaining regular attendance.
    Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and positive attitude toward the elderly and disabled
    Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
    Must be at least 18 years of age
    Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions and Physical and Sensory Requirements for All Job Functions as outlined below.

  • Knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere, which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

  • Report to Management immediately all instances of abuse, neglect, misappropriation/handling of resident property, or other concerns such as inadequate staffing, etc.
  • Participate in all investigations as required.
  • Follows policies for acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene and other work duties as assigned.
    Support, cooperate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for:
  • Safety, including standard precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data and comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security.
  • Comply with all Quality Assurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from harassment, and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  • Complete required in-service training.
  • Support and participate in common teamwork and provide great customer service
  • Have a positive frame of mind, friendly communication and genuine care and concern with residents, families, visitors and co-workers.
  • Treat residents, families, visitors and co-workers with courtesy and respect, say please, thank you, hello, and goodbye.
  • Cooperate and work together with all co-workers, assisting others with a cheerful and helpful attitude.

  • Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.

  • Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
  • Support facilities and facility staff in a friendly, courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Privacy and Security, the company’s Corporate Compliance and Quality Assurance program requirements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as interim Director of Nursing in SNF while recruiting efforts for permanent replacements continue. (Refer to Director of Nursing Job Description)
  • In addition, may assist current DON and Regional Nurse Consultant with implementing plans as needed to satisfy regulatory and nursing services compliance.
  • Develop clinical plans of action, strategy, and implement those plans to address targeted areas of concern in the assigned facility.
  • Assist and lead and developing and organizing systems, tools, and practices that help to implement clinical and staffing plans of actions.
  • Develop rapport with clinical staff to ensure calm, professional environment in the assigned facility.
  • Assist with recruiting of RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, as needed in the assigned facility.
