General Description
Niagara County Community College is seeking a part time Front Desk Technical Assistant in our Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). ACE provides NCCC students with academic support services such as tutoring and student success workshops. This position is responsible for greeting individuals, the oversight of students logging in/out of the center, answering phone calls, assisting students with technical issues (computers/printing), assisting students with appointments, oversight of the Learning Management System, inventorying paper/printing supplies, and general housekeeping.
Position needed for Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. Potential to work additional evening hours Tuesdays & Thursdays based upon availability up to a maximum of 28 hours per week.
The rate of pay is based on the level of education the candidate possesses. For a Bachelor’s degree or lower the rate of pay will be $20.60 per hour. For a Master’s degree or higher the rate of pay will be $22.66 per hour.
Typical Work Activities
- Greets students, staff, and faculty at the front desk; answers questions in regards to the Academic Center for Excellence.
- Assists with logging into and out of the Learning Management System.
- Assists with the appointment-based system for the center.
- Assists students with computer and printing troubleshooting within the center.
- Assists with data entry tasks utilizing spreadsheets.
- Answers phone calls and assists with student inquiries.
- Places maintenance and/or help desk tickets when appropriate.
- Communicates with the ACE Coordinator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Ability to be approachable and friendly as this is a student-facing role; ability to navigate relationships with diverse populations; strong interpersonal/communication skills; ability to utilize technology in the performance of duties and assist student with minor technical issues; ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment; data entry tasks/familiarity in working with spreadsheets and Word documents; ability to multitask on a regular basis.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree,
- Experience with/knowledge of Microsoft Office,
- Ability to multitask and work with a single student or multiple students at once,
- Excellent communication skills,
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with computer programs such as Go Print, Google Apps, Windows 10, Accudemia
- Experience with Brightspace, Starfish and/or Banner Web.
- Experience with and/or knowledge of services within Niagara County Community College.
