Objectives (Description of Responsibilities)
The responsibility of the Buyer/Planner is to manage expenditure for materials and/or services to support the company. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company’s needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling, and select production materials and services. The position is further responsible for timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services. They will perform the assigned tasks according to the direction of their manager. The Buyer/Planner will report to the Purchasing Manager.
Sole Responsibility / Assignments to be completed by the position:
- Initiates purchase orders and amendments to parts, services and/or specific tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintains close coordination with program leads to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
- Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
- Analyzes MRO Purchase Requisitions and determines best source and cost for obtaining the goods within the time requested. Tracks and confirms delivery to the appropriate department.
- Develops an MRO purchasing strategy with guidance from the Purchasing Manager.
- Coordinates the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services.
- Coordinates as appropriate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
- Organizes and implements with direction from Purchasing Manager to accomplish small business and disadvantaged business sourcing programs consistent with company guidelines.
- Request RMA’s for incorrect quantities of material and processes debit memos to suppliers
Other Main Duties:
- Improves existing concepts and methods in the area of production control.
- Assists with the annual inventory.
- Comply with all regulations regarding place and order, accident prevention, workplace safety, environment protection and energy efficiency in the department.
- Will attend production meetings.
· Inform manager/supervisor about specific deviations
· Accurately complete appropriate paperwork and/or enter into computer
· Assist in the training of new employees
· Participation in Continuous improvement of processes and procedures
· Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company
· Ensure all regulations regarding order and cleanliness are complied with within work area
· Complete monthly reporting
· Track cost savings
· Other duties as assigned by manager
Requirements

Applicants must have at least a High school diploma/GED or equivalent
Proven working experience in purchasing and production planning/production control
Proficient in standard production planning software
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Be a self-starter and work independently
Must be productive in a team environment
Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
Required to work overtime as scheduled
Ability to travel if/when required
