Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary team. As a PMHNP at our Ketamine Center, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, among others. You will collaborate closely with our team of physicians, therapists, and support staff to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients seeking Ketamine infusion and therapy
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders and formulate individualized treatment plans, incorporating Ketamine infusion and therapy as appropriate
- Monitor and evaluate patients' responses to treatment, adjusting medication regimens and therapeutic interventions as necessary
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families regarding treatment options, medication management, and symptom management strategies
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and integrated care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills
Skills:
- Clinical Assessment: Ability to perform thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments, including comprehensive mental health history-taking and risk assessment.
- Diagnostic Proficiency: Proficient in diagnosing and differentiating various psychiatric disorders, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other mood and anxiety disorders.
- Treatment Planning: Skill in developing individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practices, incorporating Ketamine therapy as a treatment modality.
- Medication Management: Competence in prescribing and managing psychiatric medications, including Ketamine, and monitoring patients for therapeutic response and potential side effects.
- Therapeutic Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, facilitate open dialogue, and provide psychoeducation regarding treatment options and symptom management strategies.
- Collaborative Care: Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and integrated care for patients receiving Ketamine therapy.
- Documentation Skills: Proficiency in maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, including documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and communication with other healthcare team members.
- Crisis Intervention: Competence in managing psychiatric crises and emergencies, including suicide risk assessment and intervention, and coordinating appropriate crisis services as needed.
- Cultural Competence: Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and diversity factors in mental health care, with the ability to provide culturally responsive care to a diverse patient population.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Commitment to staying informed about current research and best practices in psychiatric care, including Ketamine therapy, and integrating evidence-based interventions into clinical practice.
- Professionalism and Ethics: Adherence to ethical and professional standards of practice in nursing and mental health care, including maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting patient autonomy and rights.

Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a PMHNP, preferably in a psychiatric or mental health setting
- Experience with Ketamine therapy or other innovative psychiatric treatments is preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and promoting mental wellness
