Job description
- FULL-TIME or PART-TIME
Develop or recommend a current diet manual to meet the needs of residents.
Develop and implement dietary policies and procedures to meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
Assist the Food Service Director in determining sufficient staffing requirements to carry out all required departmental policies and procedures.
Assess nutritional needs of residents and complete all documentation, including MDS, RAPS, and Care Plans in compliance with physician’s orders.
Review and plan all regular and therapeutic diets and menus to meet residents’ nutritional requirements; approve all permanent menu substitutions.
Counsel and educate residents, as needed, on dietary likes and dislikes, appetite, food habits and therapeutic diets.
Assess and document residents’ food preferences, food allergies/intolerances and cultural preferences that may affect food consumption.
Update Geri Menu for resident food preferences and menus, with assistance from the Dietetic Technician and Food Service Director.
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the meal service times, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
Evaluate food based on nutritional adequacy, method of preparation, taste, appearance, serving temperature and portion size.
Education
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition as approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE).
Licensure
Must be a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Must be licensed by the Ohio Board of Dietetics.
Experience
Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in clinical nutrition and food service management, preferably in a long-term care facility.
Must have in-depth knowledge of Food Service regulations and practices and procedures.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret nutrition/food service goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality resident care.
Must possess outstanding leadership abilities and communication skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
