We are currently on the lookout for six (6) Launch Engineers to join Nikola's engineering team for 1 year with a strong possibility to become permanent Nikola employees. In this role you will plan, schedule, organize, direct, and control the launch deliverables on an aggressive timeline. You Will:
- Blend Engineering and Manufacturing, you will be at the heart of the production launch process
- Work with main stakeholders in the completion of PPAP and quality inspections
- Help push from low volume to high volume at the Nikola vehicle assembly plant
- Proactively identify high risk areas in production and engineering design cycle
- Identify, root cause and track issues
- Communicate, facilitate and track part substitutions and rework
- Work with Design Engineers on necessary design changes through the production and vehicle launch process. Success in this role requires someone with expert experience with APQP (PPAP, FMEA, etc.), Gantt charts, open items, and responsibility tracking.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience of 6 years in automotive
- Proven experience tracking the progress of multiple projects
- Familiarity with Chassis, Propulsion, Cab or Thermal component, system design and function
- Excellent planning, collaboration, and facilitation skills to coordinate and leverage capabilities across a highly matrixed organization involving multiple products, channels & functions
- Data-driven problem-solving skills, with understanding of problem-solving tools and key performance indicators / metrics
- Ability to plan and manage complex projects crossing over many departmental lines
- Effective communication skills, written and oral, to all levels of the organization both technical and high level
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving skills
- High Energy / Flexible / Adaptable / Dynamic / “can-do” attitude
- High comfort and confidence level while giving presentations to a room of peers and/or stakeholders
- Ability to influence and thrive within a rapidly changing / growing matrix organization
- Liaison to the JV team in Germany with technical communication to both engineering teams
