We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Controller to join our construction company based in Dallas. The Part-Time Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Provide regular financial reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Coordinate with project managers to optimize billing and collections.
- Financial Controls:
- Cash flow management.
- Create and maintain internal controls.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Tax and Compliance:
- Maintain a record of accounts.
- General audit.
- Oversee and support accounting team.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to prepare and file tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the construction industry.
- Strategic Planning:
- Improve efficiency
- Provide financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making.
- Assist in evaluating potential investments and business opportunities.
- Contribute to long-term financial planning and growth initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively as well as think critically and problem-solve.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Schedule and Compensation:
- This is a part-time position with flexible hours.
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
