Part-time Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Controller to join our construction company based in Dallas. The Part-Time Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to contribute to the success of a dynamic construction firm.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Provide regular financial reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
• Cash Management:
• Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Coordinate with project managers to optimize billing and collections.
• Financial Controls:
• Cash flow management.
• Create and maintain internal controls.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
• Tax and Compliance:
• Maintain a record of accounts.
• General audit.
• Oversee and support accounting team.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors to prepare and file tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the construction industry.
• Strategic Planning:
• Improve efficiency
• Provide financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making.
• Assist in evaluating potential investments and business opportunities.
• Contribute to long-term financial planning and growth initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
• Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively as well as think critically and problem-solve.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Schedule and Compensation:

• This is a part-time position with flexible hours.
• Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
