POSITION DESCRIPTION /

Niobium Microsystems is seeking a software engineer specialized in firmware and drivers. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the successful candidate will develop foundational software that will power our technology. Working with emerging industry standard homomorphic encryption libraries and programming languages such as C or Rust, the successful candidate will collaborate with our cross-functiontional team of engineers to design, develop and optimize our software that enhances performance and security. This will require expertise in embedded systems and familiarity with the semiconductor industry. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES /

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware and driver software for our microelectronic products.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of firmware and driver software with semiconductor hardware.
  • Implement and maintain communication protocols for secure data transfer and processing.
  • Optimize firmware and drivers for performance, power efficiency, and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, and adhere to software development best practices and company coding standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve firmware and driver-related issues.
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements in firmware development, embedded systems, and semiconductor technologies.
  • Contribute to the documentation of firmware and driver design and architecture.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE /

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development
  • Proven experience in firmware and driver development, preferably in the semiconductor or related industry.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems design and microcontroller architectures.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, USB)
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and interrupt handling mechanisms
  • MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment; managing multiple complex, multidisciplinary tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and remarkable eye for accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
