What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verification Specialist position at NISA?
NISA, a busy specialty practice, is hiring an Insurance Verification/New Patient Referral Service Specialist to join our team! In our office, an Insurance Verification/New Patient Referral Service Specialist ("PSS") will be trained to verify insurance, process incoming new patient referrals, records requests, and schedule patients.
Our ideal candidate will have 2-3 years recent experience in a busy medical office, working to ensure that patients’ health care benefits cover required procedures. They will contact the patient’s insurance company to verify coverage levels and work with individuals to educate them on their benefits information.
Tasks:
- Verifying insurance coverage of each patient
- Handling payments for services not covered by insurance
- Explaining coverage's to patients
- Obtaining referrals for patients when they are not covered
- Updating patient information/keeping records
- Filling out documentation required for billing
Skills and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous billing experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Work experience with insurance companies
- Clear communication skills
- Detail-oriented focus
Neurology office experience is a plus! Must be experienced with EMR, EclinicalWorks a plus. Bilingual is a plus but not required. We are looking for a good team player that is courteous, self directed, sharp, and positive!
