Job Title: Chief Pilot Job Code: 103124 Job Summary This position is responsible for all helicopter flying activities involving aircraft in the care, custody and control of any NiSource Company. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Develops and maintains in a current status written department guiding principles and procedures including but not limited to: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Operations Guidelines, Flight Following and Accident/Incident Response. Supervises the development, maintenance, and submission to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of written guiding principles and procedures for documents necessary for the continuation of privileges authorized and/or approved by the FAA including, but not necessarily limited to: Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum operation (RVSM), Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL). Prepares annual operating budgets that include operating expenses, facilities, supplies, outside services, personnel, training, and capital expenses. Monitor and report on budget variances. Submit or review, as appropriate, requests for payment to vendors for flight related services as well as direct report employee expense reimbursement forms and approve those that are in compliance with company policies and procedures. Oversees crew scheduling and aircraft dispatching and ensure that all schedules are in compliance with the intent of company flight and duty time guidelines. Provide leadership and direction to flight personnel to ensure personal performance, growth and competence including PMWs. Comply with the company’s Performance Management program including the department Operating Plan and employee review process. Establish and maintain, in cooperation with the Safety Team Leader, an active safety program. Establish and maintain, in cooperation with the Security Team Leader, an active security program. Establish programs for pilots that include proficiency reviews, initial training, recurrent training, and upgrade training. Represent the company in flight operations matters with the FAA, state, and municipal aviation bodies. Required Qualifications for Position Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. At least five years commercial aviation experience with at least two years in a leadership position. Possesses Airline Transport Pilot Certificate privileges in helicopters and/or jets. Able to manage a diverse group of employees. Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Proficient with personal computers including, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other forms of electronic communication. Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position Current and qualified in all categories and classes of aircraft operated by NiSource. Previous documented powerline and pipeline patrol experience.
