Job Title: Manager Operational Excellence – Process Safety Job Code: 107820 Job Summary: The process safety manager position is accountable for leading a team supporting NiSource’s safety management system elements and requirements. This position is focused on leading a team in execution of the company’s incident investigation, evaluation and lessons learned safety management system learning from experience element. The incumbent will use the incident investigation and learning from experience processes, tools and results to help drive improvement and risk reduction for our operations, assets and communities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Leads a team that performs to the incident investigation, evaluation and lessons learned management system requirements. Provides leadership, counsel, and technical expertise throughout NiSource for the incident investigation methodologies used for incidents and near misses. Monitors internal & external incident investigation process (based on a set of criteria) and ensures correct categorization of actual or potential risks, and reports back lessons learned in service of continuous improvement. May lead incident investigations for significant or complex events May participate in industry workgroups groups as a technical professional representative on process safety and incident investigations. Coaches and mentors direct reports and other company functions on incident investigation and human reliability tools, methods and procedures. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience Five years’ experience leading complex incident investigations using industry recognized tools and techniques Preferred Qualifications: Technical/engineering background Formal safety management background Ten years’ experience leading/conducting incident investigations Familiarity with safety management systems Prior natural gas and/or electric utilities operations or engineering experience Prior formal process hazard assessment (PHA) experience Prior experience with human performance tools and methodologies Competencies: Excellent written and verbal skills Managerial courage to lead during incident investigations Strategic Planning Driving for Results Building Talent Business Acumen Customer Focus Disclaimer The proceeding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of this position.
