• This will have a hybrid schedule, working 2 days/week onsite in our Columbus, Ohio or Hammond, Indiana office location.

Job Summary

The Gas Transportation Analyst will have the primary responsibility of efficiently and accurately scheduling, confirming, and reconciling volumes of natural gas purchases, transportation and storage both on and off the company’s natural gas distribution systems. An analyst will collaborate within ES&O on a regular basis to provide strategic input into portfolio optimization and to ensure that all operational needs are met in support of the company’s goal to provide safe, reliable service. A Gas Transportation Analyst provides services to both internal and external customers, works collaboratively, and maintains good communication and relationships with all parties.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Nominates gas transportation on interstate pipelines and/or storage facilities in compliance with contract provisions, and the pipelines and/or storage operators tariff.
• Analyzes available transportation and storage capacity and collaborate with Gas Portfolio Managers and Gas Control to determine strategic, cost effective ways to utilize our assets.
• Submits intra-day nomination changes as necessary to maintain balance of supply and demand
• Confirms daily city-gate nominations for system supply, transportation customers and Choice Suppliers.
• Verifies and balances nominations, storage inventories and pipeline imbalances for data accuracy.
• Posts capacity releases on pipeline and storage websites associated with transportation and storage allocations to Choice Suppliers.
• Monitors pipeline electronic bulletin boards for critical information including operational restrictions and communicate pertinent information to Gas Portfolio Managers and Gas Control.
• Supports Gas Accountant during the monthly accounting closing by providing documentation on volume reconciliation and storage inventories timely, and assist with reconciling discrepancies on monthly transportation or storage payable invoices.
• Maintains data and integrity of EASy and EAO systems, including system enhancements. Interact with the EASy and EAO IT support team.
• Reviews and maintain procedures for scheduling, confirmations and capacity release.
• Covers periodic on-call weekends/holidays.
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with all internal and external parties.
• Participates in non-recurring ad hoc projects as needed.

Required Qualifications for Position

• Natural Gas transportation, gas supply or related experience and knowledge
• Problem solving skills, detail oriented.
• Ability to work across departments collaboratively
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to meet recurring deadlines and produce accurate and timely work
• Demonstrated success in listening to problems, finding creative business solutions and effectively communicating and/or implementing solutions
• Knowledge of systems that are used to support the gas transportation function
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
• LDC Tariff and rate knowledge

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business or quantitative discipline preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, regulatory environment or natural gas industry preferred.
