Construction Worker

Job Description :

• Places and maintains cable within underground conduit system;
• Places direct buried cable using plowing, digging, and trenching equipment;
• Installs and removes aerial cable, including installation of messenger strands and transfer of cable and equipment from old poles to new poles; sets poles using a pole truck and digging and bracing equipment;
• Installs central office feeder and distribution cable;
• Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor;
• Cleans equipment;
• Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices; controls traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas as required or assigned;
• Performs other duties when needed to assist in the operations of the department.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

• CDL Class A driver license
• Insurability with Company's carrier
• Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently above head
• Experience in operating construction equipment
• Adaptable to extreme degrees of weather conditions
• Must be willing to work Saturday and emergency callouts
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tool or controls

License:

• Valid Class A CDL license required and must be an insurable driver with the Company’s carrier
