The Patent Support Assistant is responsible for providing support to the patent prosecution team, including patent prosecution specialists, paralegals, and attorneys by preparing Information Disclosure Statements (IDSs) processing invoices, and performing other basic patent prosecution tasks. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.

Location: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Washington, DC
- Prepare and file IDSs with the United Stated Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Prepare and file formality documents (i.e. assignments, declarations and powers of attorney).
- Assist Patent Prosecution Specialists with preparing routine correspondences.
- Assist Patent Prosecution Specialists with preparing and filing documents with the USPTO.
- Create, modify and run status reports as needed.
- Process foreign agent and US vendor invoices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
- 0-2 years of IP experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. College Degree preferred.
- Ability to learn and effectively navigate through the USPTO’s website, in particular, PAIR and the USPTO’s Electronic Filing System (EFS).
- Research patent prosecution rules and regulations, such as MPER, CFR, etc.
- Working knowledge of windows-based software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and document managements systems (i.e. NetDocuments).
- Strong attention to detail and proof-reading skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work professionally with all levels of the firm.
- Demonstrated ability to work multiple projects with various deadlines.
In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows: Los Angeles: $50,484 to $69,371
In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range is Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate of the annual salary it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
