Overview:
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for projects ranging from short technology investigations to full-scale high-volume product development. This hire will be working extensively on prototyping, modeling, schematic design, PCBA layout, and testing in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Work assigned to the electrical engineering team is generally highly complex and multi-disciplined.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of new product designs by providing concepts, preliminary cost estimates and planning for electrical systems that meet customer requirements, project timelines and cost goals.
- Assist in the development and standardization of engineering test plans to validate new or existing electrical system performance utilizing design for reliability tools and performance sensitivity analysis. Consideration must be given to the applicable third-party certifications, for example: FDA, UL, CE, CSA etc.
- Mentor staff in the Electrical Engineering department
- Plan long-range projects and develop the departmental capabilities
- Preparing and giving presentations to management and possibly customers
- Negotiating with vendors and the creation of clear statements of work
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-7 years designing electrical systems and schematics
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience with electro-mechanical sensors, rechargeable batteries, low power DC circuitry
- Experience with component selection, qualification, and the manufacturing processes in high volume production
- Expertise in the multiple phases of electrical product development
- Experience providing solutions and improvements to all departments for continuous improvement
- Evaluated designs via a FMEA
- Knowledge of battery management systems and have worked with Lithium Batteries
- Experience using Altium, Cadence, SolidWorks, or other CAD software
- Knowledge of FDA, CSA, UL, IEC code requirements
- Experience in with lab equipment and testing environments including oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, Arduinos.
- Experience with statistical analysis such as Minitab or Statistics, other.
- Experience working is a stage gate product development process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience with high-volume consumer electronics and work with offshore contract manufactures
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
