Position Concept

The Resource Coordinator will work with customers who need extra support, beyond what Workforce Advisors can provide, to resolve a crisis. As an expert in community resources, you will help customers connect with external supports related to housing, mental health, domestic violence, substance abuse, parenting, food insecurity, and grief.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assist customers who are in crisis with stabilization services.
  • Be able to identify resources to assist with resolving difficult situation customers might find themselves in
  • Assess supportive service needs. Determine whether stabilization resources are appropriate for a customer and develop a clear goal plan with customers.  To receive Stabilization services, a customer must first meet with a Resource Staff Member to discuss and assess supportive service requirements.
  • During goal planning Resource Coordinators will be able to assist customers in identifying relevant external resources.
  • Clearly articulate supportive service options available for WIOA, EARN and Universal customers.
  • Determine next steps for customer during case management meetings (ex: continuation of services, applying for good cause exemptions, etc.).  Assist with transition out of stabilization services, ideally after 30 days. If not resolved within 30 days, provide continued case management.
  • Intensive case management. Customers who agree to receive services work directly with the Resource Coordinator to set small goals around resolving or mitigating any barriers that may be influencing career seeking intentions.

 

Other Duties Include, But Not Limited To

  • Participate in training and development activities as required.
  • Report any acts, incidents or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate participant-to-participant or staff-to-participant relationships.
  • Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per Eckerd policy and state guidelines.
  • Contributes to the team effort by assuming other job-related duties as required.

 

Position Specifications

Education:   Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of 3 years of Human Service/case management experience preferred.

Experience:   Previous experience with workforce development, vocational skills training programs, adult basic education, or working closely with adult learners is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to empathize with and provide motivational support to people experiencing poverty and to partner effectively with a variety of program and community stakeholders.  Highly organized with keen attention to detail.   Adept at working independently and with diverse teams.  Ability to adapt to change and manage competing demands; proactively identifies and mitigates emerging challenges.  Ability to help others understand and successfully complete processes that may seem complicated or intimidating.  Passionate about serving low-income families and helping them advance in the workforce.  Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.  

 Other:  Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.  Must meet state criminal background check requirements.

Travel:  Must have appropriate and valid state driver’s license and be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.

Physical Demands:  The environment is an open office/classroom type facility that is reasonably clean and comfortable.  The incumbent is in a non-confined setting in which he/she is free to move about.  The position requires that the incumbent spend time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards, partnerships, and strategies to provide and create a career pathway for youth, adults, and dislocated workers.  Training services include occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and transitional employment opportunities.  We provide youth with development, academic instruction, career & technical education, and access to the 14 WIOA Youth Elements. We establish and develop relationships and networks with large and small employers and their intermediaries as well as develop, convene, or implement industry or sector partnerships.
