Controller Job Summary
The Controller will handle high-level managerial accounting and oversee and administer all financial activities of the company. As manager of the accounting department, the Controller, along with an experienced and tenured accounting staff, will supervise all aspects of accounting and Human Resources for the Company.. This role reports to the CEO, and will assist in developing internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.
Controller Duties and Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
Maintain documented system of accounting policies and standard procedures and best practices
Oversee Accounts Payable ensuring all accounts are paid within terms
Process wire payments for foreign vendors
Oversee payments and entries made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money
Monitor cash and funding balances
Maintain an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review
Prepare quarterly/annual financial reports
Manage the quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts
Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and CFO
Organize information and statements for both internal and external auditors
Complying with all statutory requirements pertaining to tax filings and reporting
Additional Controller duties as required
Controller Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting
The ideal candidate has 10 years of experience in full-cycle Accounting, and five years of experience in managing an accounting staff
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is desired
Excellent computer skills; Specifically, experience in Sage 100, and Microsoft Office Suite
Exceptional knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced knowledge of best practices, laws, standards, and state/federal statutes
Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
Attention to detail
Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other members of other teams
