We are looking for a motivated solution builder to support challenges around passing data between state entities and displaying/processing data that maximizes the benefit to state business. Our Cloud Engineer will strategically influence the trajectory of technology and solutions across the enterprise of state government. The Cloud Engineer works collaboratively within MPH, with partner agencies, and with vendors to help instill architectural thinking, to coordinate and orchestrate capabilities, to optimize solution delivery, and to advance the expansion of digital government. This role is key to helping MPH in its efforts to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure as well as shaping the future of how the operations of state government are facilitated. The Cloud Engineer is a subject matter expert in the domain of cloud technologies and champions cloud native solutions, advising staff and leadership at all levels to enable and promote the effective and efficient use of cloud technologies
- Provides operational support for the Cloud platforms ensuring data security, availability, and performance;
- Demonstrate knowledge of cloud architecture, capabilities, implementation requirements, and future roadmap of cloud platforms;
- Demonstrate knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements supported by the assigned cloud platform
- Provides overall monitoring of the standards, procedures and integration of systems through Cloud Architecture design;
- Assists in the analysis of business and user needs, documents requirements and revises existing system logic difficulties;
- Demonstrate ability to collaborate between business units, architecture, operations, and security on the development and implementation of solutions that meet operational and compliance standards as well as meeting relevant regulatory requirements
- Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with assigned customers in order to help them meet their business and technical needs;
- Identify and maximize cost reduction opportunities by eliminating duplication of existing tools and services, while driving additional use cases for existing capabilities across the enterprise
- Assists in the development of strategic plans based on customer needs
- Partner with MPH product owners and senior stakeholders to develop cloud native, hybrid cloud, and multi-cloud strategies to optimize the value of MPH services
- Assists in the delivery of technical business solutions and products to customers;
- Assists in meeting expectations of customers, peers, vendors, and management;
- Assists customers in evaluation, procurement and implementation of technical business systems solutions and products
- Consults with and makes recommendations to Business Consultancy/Planning, Project Management and associate user groups to define information processing requirements, evaluate technology needs and formulate solutions;
- Evaluates technology and products to determine the feasibility of adding to agency standards;
- Develops work plans for assigned projects and supervises their execution;
- Provides guidance and reviews the work of team members on special projects;
- Facilitates discussions for long-term planning implementation;
- Identifies and explores the potential strategies for long-term planning implementation;
- Demonstrate exceptional personal judgment, written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with explaining complex matters to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Works with and provides guidance to information systems personnel or user agencies for maximum computer utilization;
- Collaborate with MPH product owners to optimize current service offerings in relation to adoption requirements, budgetary allocation, new features, resources, processes, and technology impacts
- Mentor and coach technical MPH staff in the transition to supporting cloud operations;
- On-the-job experience with advanced knowledge of tools, techniques, and best practices of cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services; Google Cloud Platform; and Microsoft Azure.
- On-the-job experience with advanced knowledge of supporting infrastructure as code (IaC) and helping development teams leverage DevSecOps and cloud native development.
