Job Description
The Fleet Servicing / Janitor position provides a variety of cleaning services and other related duties required to keep office facilities, or similar areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Full-time, Part-time and Seasonal positions may be available.
Responsibilities
- Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, mops office facilities and / or customer areas on aircrafts in accordance with specific cleaning protocols dictated by the airline.
- Clean and flush airplane galleys and / or lavatories
- Empty and fill potable water on all flights.
- Dusts both low and high areas.
- Wipes down or cleans various surfaces. Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks.
- Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials.
- Removes and transports trash to the appropriate disposal areas.
- May compact trash.
- May keep building entryways free of snow and debris.
- May operate a vehicle to work at various locations.
- May periodically perform a variety of special duties such as certain types of laundry duties or periodically scheduled cleaning tasks.
- May transport passengers requiring wheelchair assistance within the terminal and aircraft.
- Assist wheelchair passengers with their carry-on bags, assisted devices and checked luggage.
- Working in and around aircrafts and be able to follow cleaning and security protocol that will be discussed and properly trained prior to work.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Some combination or education or experience that evidences a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
- Must be able to pass a background check and physical evaluation.
- Must be able to follow established procedures and must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in day to day activities.
- Must look for ways to improve and promote quality.
- Must apply feedback to improve performance.
- Must meet productivity standards, complete work in timely manner and strive to increase personal productivity.
- Must observe safety and security procedures.
- Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
- Must be consistently at work and on time.
- Must be able to work effectively with a minimum of supervision or support.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Preferred Qualifications
Valid Alaska Driver’s License with 3 yrs. clean driving record. Insurable by NMS / NDC insurance company. Incumbent must be able to uphold a current State of Alaska driver’s license.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather : Indoor / Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.
Noise level : Moderate to Loud
Description of environment : This is an airport setting.
Physical requirements : The associate must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently pull / push cart and lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
The associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The associate is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
