Job Summary
No Place Like Home Health Care personal care assistants provide personal care services to assigned clients and perform services as necessary to maintain the client’s personal comfort. Perform all duties in an effective and timely manner. The personal care assistant is expected to arrive as scheduled and demonstrate dependability and punctuality. Appearance must be neat, clean, and professional. The caregiver must work cooperatively with consumers, family members or their representative, physicians, and other ancillary service providers.
Responsibilities/Duties
Responsibilities/essential functions: The person in this position must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Assist clients with personal care needs; bathing, shampooing, skin/nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, elimination needs, transferring, dressing/undressing, feeding, positioning and ambulation together with any household tasks (e.g., making bed, changing linens, laundry, meal prep, light housekeeping, med reminders, etc.) essential to the client's health in accordance with the client’s service plan.
Assist the client with specialized care needs to facilitate the client’s health, safety, and welfare and the ability to live independently (e.g., eating and drinking, ambulating, transfer and toileting, taking medications, personal hygiene and bowel and bladder management).
Promote personal safety and maintain a safe environment for clients by following infection control policies and procedures and utilizing the agency guidelines for reporting unsafe situations to the Supervisor or Administrator.
Plan/prepare meals and assist in feeding clients as directed.
Perform simple procedures such as an extension of therapy services under the direction and supervision of a therapist. May include assistance in ambulation and range of motion exercises.
Maintain client confidentiality at all times. Demonstrate respect for the client and family members. Maintain compliance with the client’s Bill of Rights.
Measure and record client’s temperature, pulse and respiration when ordered and/or directed by the Supervisor and client service plan.
Provide companionship to the client as needed.
Report abnormal findings in client’s condition to supervisor.
Attend in-service programs to meet agency compliance requirements.
Document services provided in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Company policy and personal care plan.
Compliance and understanding of Federal, State, and Local regulations and requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in required continuing education programs and competency evaluations provided through No Place Like Home Health Care.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Desire to help people and demonstrate compassion and patience.
Current CPR and First Aid
