ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Regulatory Specialist, you will provide regulatory and technical support ensuring cosmetic and OTC products are compliant with US and Canadian regulations and retailer’s requirements, registered on time and maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
You will use your strong interpersonal skills to develop a robust and collaborative relationship with key trade associations and task forces and use your regulatory expertise to assess the impact of specific state regulations to ensure product compliance.
You will work across a wide group of stakeholders including the Markets Regulatory partners, Retail partners, International Retail, Brand teams, Global Innovation Managers, Global Sourcing Managers and Project Managers.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy: Accountable for following the regulatory and claims strategy underpinning No7 Beauty Company brand & product activities in US and Canada
Responsible for supporting manager when providing regulatory leadership and guidance to business development functions when launching new No7 Beauty Company brands in the US and Canada, and when entering new distributor channel or partnership
Accountable for following the regulatory intelligence strategy, capitalizing on No7 Beauty Company memberships, developing regulatory presence and increasing influential powers
Responsible for supporting finance activities: invoicing / Pos for the regulatory and claims budget with US finance business partner
Processes & Governance: Accountable for following the No7 Beauty Company US regulatory framework in the US and Canada, and Responsible for supporting the maintenance of robust regulatory & claims processes and policies through the end-to-end product lifecycle
Defined point of contact for the technical UK community, supporting the link of local business strategy needs to the global systems
Accountable for implementing set regulatory processes
Responsible for developing regulatory standards and positions to enable compliance with local US and Canada artworks e.g., US labeling standards
Responsible for feeding into the Global regulatory & claims processes e.g. claims matrix reviews, artworks management system
Responsible for reviewing US claims best practices into the Global claims team and aligning on Global positions
Product Compliance: Responsible for reviewing compliance of No7 Beauty Company products sold in the US and Canada, including OTC and DIN products
Responsible for supporting managers in defending regulatory challenges in the US and Canada, and supporting with US Legal on class actions, protecting No7 Beauty Company brands and obtaining the most favorable outcome, and aligning with the Global Claims team about claim-related challenges
Responsible for supporting managers with distributor's queries, system databases, and standards, liaising with Global teams
Responsible for supporting the communication of regulatory & claims incidents to No7 BC stakeholders & feeding into Global quality process
Product Development: Accountable for carrying out regulatory activities underpinning the delivery of No7 beauty products to the US against 3Y plan
Responsible for the review of local claims’ content with escalation to manager and Global claims team when required
Accountable for reviewing regulatory compliance of US / Canada artworks and marketing material, highlight and manage risk communications
Accountable for carrying out registration activities in US and Canada [OTC / MoCRA / Health Canada / Wercks]
Responsible for reviewing existing product claims marketing files and any accompanying dossiers for distributor and channel’s approval and use, highlight and manage risk communications, with alignment from Global Claims teams
Horizon Scanning: Accountable for supporting the management of the No7 Beauty Company network of regulatory partners in the US and Canada, and Responsible for highlighting areas of threat and opportunities
Accountable for representing the business at some trade bodies committees and partners meetings, as per the manager’s lead
Responsible for influencing No7 Beauty Company's areas of interest, obtaining the most favorable outcome, and following the strategy set by the manager
Accountable for reviewing regulatory & claims’ areas of threats & opportunities relevant to the US and Canada product portfolio, and
Responsible for feeding in intelligence through the Global HS process, risk and impact assessing intelligence, and communicating regulatory and claims recommendations in line with the business risk appetite
Responsible for surveying and summarizing competitors’ claims activities in the US and Canada, feeding into the Global claims team
Technical Mastery
Strong technical knowledge that supports the delivery of proposed solutions to more technical challenges
Share knowledge with the team to improve capabilities
Good understanding of IP principles; when and how to protect IP and to resolve IP challenges
Apply the principles of good Lean design i.e. identification of customer value to drive efficiency across the appropriate value chain

Use multiple sources of scientific information and network with other technical experts

Experimental Design and Methodology
Designing conducting and reporting robust experiments and scientific investigations
Apply the principles of good experimental design, Demonstrate an understanding of experimental design
Draw and document appropriate conclusions based on results and propose relevant next steps
Accurately document methodology implemented, outcomes, measurable objective improvement options
Technical Communication
Ability to effectively communicate specialist technical information to a variety of audiences
Present complex specialist information in a simple, balanced and objective way so that diverse audiences across the business understand how the key information and messages are relevant for them
Confidently play the role of peer reviewer for specialist communications
Consistently prepare written reports for defined audiences following scientific principles and legislative requirements as appropriate with minimal support
Working in Compliance with Quality Systems
Setting and working within quality systems
Demonstrate a detailed working knowledge of the quality system and proposed improvements
Contribute to effective quality process and procedure development
Work effectively in compliance and review activities
Train and advise on local quality systems to build understanding and advocacy
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field
At least 2 years of experience in a legal or regulatory affairs position
Working knowledge of standard office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
Understanding of US and Canada cosmetic and OTC regulations
Comfortable with database management
Excellent analytic and writing skills
