Job Summary:
The Kitchen Aide in a Head Start program for children ages 3-5 is responsible for preparing nutritious, USDA-approved meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, managing food supplies, and keeping accurate food service records.
What you will own:

Nutritious Cooking:
- Prepare meals following USDA, Head Start, and CACFP guidelines, considering children's cultural and nutritional needs.
- Adhere to health and safety standards.
- Adjust menus based on availability and individual needs.
- Engage children in cooking activities.

Food Services:
- Prepare and serve meals, participate in family-style dining.
- Work with the Cook and Site Manager to monitor and document dining experiences.
- Maintain food service records, conduct inventory, and manage food orders.
- Check food deliveries, ensure proper storage and temperature, and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
- Address food allergies and prepare alternative meals as needed.
- Assist with food delivery and dish collection.

General Staff Responsibilities:
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to child abuse reporting policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, contribute positively to the team, and support the organization's mission and values
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification or obtain such certification within 3 months.
- Experience in purchasing and preparing culturally diverse foods for groups
- Knowledge of early childhood nutrition
- Lift and move heavy and/or bulky objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
