Responsibilities
- Assist and represent the Health & Safety Manager (if applicable) in onsite training and the day-to-day onsite implementation and enforcement of the accepted HASP;
- Assist and support the onsite project management in participating in daily, weekly, and monthly planning sessions as necessary;
- Promote site compliance with specified safety requirements and all aspects of the HASP. This includes, but is not limited to: activity hazard analyses, air monitoring; use of PPE, decontamination site control; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) used to minimize hazards; safe use of engineering controls; the emergency response plan; confined space entry procedures; spill containment program; and preparation of records. This will be accomplished by performing a daily Health & Safety inspection;
- Cease work activities if unacceptable health or safety conditions exist, and take necessary action to reestablish and maintain safe working conditions;
- Consult and coordinate any modifications to the HASP with the Health and Safety Manager, Site Superintendent, and Project Manager;
- Assist and support in accident investigations and preparing accident reports;
- Review results of daily Health & Safety inspections and document findings;
- Coordinate with site management and the Health and Safety Manager, recommend corrective actions for identified deficiencies, and support implementation of corrective actions;
- Assist and support the documentation of recorded site data generated throughout each work day at regular intervals indicating the nature of work being performed, weather, site conditions, personnel, sub-contractors and other relevant field observations;
- Participate in project meetings as required.
