Nomi Sushi is looking for a Sushi Chef to join our team.
This is a self starter position with controle of the menu for the 2023 season. We are looking for a highly motivate industry driven individual who wants to work with the freshest ingredients possible and bring modern farm fresh sushi to Northern Michigan.
Sushi Chef responsibilities include preparing sushi dishes, maintaining a fully-stocked sushi bar and providing exceptional customer service. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with preparing and serving food, working knowledge of food safety regulations and a service-oriented approach. Ultimately, you will make sure our customers leave happy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver all food orders in a timely manner
- Answer phone calls and take orders
- Check food quality
- Prepare ingredients (e.g. rice, sauce)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Ensure proper food safety regulations are followed at all times
- Maintain a fully-stocked sushi bar (e.g. using kitchenware and tools)
- Take out the trash when leaving restaurant
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Maintain clean restaurant environment - we’ll do our best to keep this area clean for you! (This includes taking out trash, sweeping, etc.)
- Place orders and manage inventory and food costs
- Write employee schedules and manage labor costs
Skills & Requirements Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees. Ability to work with people of all ages and nationalities. Ability to maintain a friendly demeanor in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow procedures and take direction well. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to lift at least 25 pounds without assistance. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to bend, reach, twist at waist, back bend, front bend, and squat while working with raw fish.
