Role overview & responsibilities:
This role supports the Prime Finance trading desk and requires a fundamental understanding of equity swaps, stock loan, repos. The ideal Product Controller will be highly attentive to detail and risk, while upholding the importance of a strong control environment. General responsibilities include:
Daily P&L Reporting, Flash to Actual analysis, Front-to-Back reconciliations, P&L Commentary, verification of manual adjustments, and Balance Sheet Attestation
Close interaction with the trading desk, Treasury, Middle Office/Ops, IT, Market Risk, Financial Reporting, Regulatory and IPV teams
Input into the development of various tactical and strategic process improvements projects, as well as testing and implementation of the end state
Daily Responsibilities include:
- P&L production including: FOBO reconciliations, Flash to Actual explanations and Attribution analysis
- Create a daily summary of funding charges, including day-over-day variance analysis
- Interaction with Trading, Operations and Treasury to resolve booking, valuation, and financial resource usage related issues
- Understanding and motivation to resolve all manual adjustments
- Provide daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly P&L and market commentary
Monthly Responsibilities include:
- Closing the firm’s books and records, including required manual journal entries and Balance Sheet substantiation
- Reconciliation of monthly front office P&L to general ledger
- Completion of various financial reporting schedules
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- 3 years of product control experience
- BS in Finance, Economics or Accounting
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced, results oriented environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Excel and Access skills. Fluency in VB a plus
- Team player, proactive, self-starter, who is detailed oriented and can work in a dynamic environment
