What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Finance Manager who will play an active role in overseeing the financial health of the organization and help ensure our continued vitality and resilience. This role reports to the Chief Executive of People & Finance and will oversee important finance functions, including but not limited to our programmatic invoicing functions, internal financial controls, monthly and quarterly financial analysis and reporting, tax filings and annual audit. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is energized by tracking and analyzing everyday financial activities and subsequently providing a quarterly financial narrative that can help inform decision-making as it relates to business strategy.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintain the financial health of the organization with robust oversight of financial systems and internal controls while tracking the broader strategic landscape
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports and strategic data analysis and modeling
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization
  • Oversee annual audit, and liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained
  • Analyze and report on the success of business initiatives
  • Manage the budget development and maintenance process in collaboration with the Chief Executive of People & Finance
  • Work with internal stakeholders to track budget spending and approvals and engage staff in regular quarterly financial updates
  • Maintain cash flow forecasting and work with internal stakeholders to forecast short and long term financial performance and business activity
  • Actively manage cash reserves and cash sweep accounts
  • Ensure all financial activities are compliant with 501c3 regulatory requirements
  • Partner to complete the annual 990 tax filings with CPA
  • Support project analysis, validation of strategic project plans, and ad-hoc requests
  • Implement processes for grant administration and compliance with grant requirements, including the use of restricted funds and reporting.

Experience You Bring

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent background in accounting, finance, business administration or related field of experience
  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager (5 years of experience)
  • The ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information
  • The ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with internal stakeholders
  • Excellent business judgment, analysis, and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of robust financial reporting tools, including demonstrated use of Excel, Word, Google Suite and PowerPoint to communicate financial data and inform decision-making
  • Proficient user of finance software (Quickbooks), experience with Salesforce a plus
  • A solid understanding of financial accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Working knowledge of non-profit accounting and associated regulation
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze a variety of financial and business information
  • Familiar with non-profit accounting regulations, 990 tax requirements and annual financial audits
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, service-leadership and relationship-focus

Current Benefit Package

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance includes a wide range of medical insurance options to choose from. The Project contributes a flat rate ($420) towards employee premiums which covers the base-level HSA medical plan in full. Employees have the option to opt into more robust plans at a slightly higher premium.
