Primary Objective: The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for protecting revenue and executing gross margin improvements. Support the supply chain plan for all new products and assist evolving/improving the supply chain for existing products. Support key relationships across the supply chain, and contribute through the Sourcing strategy to our Gross Margin contribution from our supply chain.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in supplier selection processes in alignment with business partners and assist with contract negotiations up to final authorization.
- Execute RFQ process using electronic systems
- Continuous learning and development of product knowledge and process methodologies driving innovation and continuous improvement. Work with Operations, Business Groups and Stakeholders to identify new areas of process improvement
- This role will work closely with the R&D and Operations Departments, communicate the preferred supply base capabilities and support their technical evaluation of opportunities for cost, manufacturability and scalability.
- Responsible for promoting early supplier engagement and execution of a sustainable supply chain that aligns with the overall company strategies
- Coordinate inputs from product teams and supplier readiness execution plans with suppliers that align with program schedule and cost targets
- Support strategic direction and supply requirements, corporate business objectives and priorities in executing global and regional short term and long-term supply roadmap.
- Pro-actively ensure transparency of spend and drive for optimization of efficiency (procedures and cost) in collaboration with operations and finance team members
- Support periodic business reviews; active monitoring of supplier performance and risk, measuring contract compliance and other key metrics to ensure targets are being met and value is being delivered to the business under the supply agreements.
- Provide periodic status updates, reports on progress and expected results to senior leadership and business groups.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs that impact Cost of Goods Manufactured.
- Negotiate pricing consistent with quality, quantity, and delivery requirements.
- Assist with the evaluation of potential new suppliers.
- Collaborate with buyers to execute orders once implementation criteria have been achieved.
- Apply Lean and Operational Excellence Principles.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in all aspects of purchasing/supply chain and sourcing including pricing negotiations, commodity-based materials management,
- Project management experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS)
- Proven track record of delivering results while working effectively cross-functionally
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate, influence others and manage sensitive situations
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, environment
- Analytical skills and understanding of Margins, COGS, etc., required
- Mastery of Excel & PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- APICS certification preferred
- Medical Device experience preferred
