NORAG LLC is looking for a Merchandising Assistant to support our trade team in Kansas City. The candidate should have at least three years of experience working in the grain industry particularly related to grain accounting with emphasis on transportation and logistics, with intermodal experience preferred. This person will be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound product shipments and equipment procurement with both internal operations and external vendors. This role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ag or Business degree preferred but not required.
Job description
The Merchandising Assistant has primary responsibility for accurately assisting in handling the accounting and execution of transportation needs of the business. This role will be in daily communication with customers, facilities and/or other transportation partners regarding problem resolution, scheduling and information retrieval.
- Manage all aspects of the accounting function and execution of logistics
- Support the management and execution of transportation services by assisting with such activities as rate analysis, invoice verification and other duties assigned by a Merchandiser
- Support Logistics Specialists/Managers and/or Merchandisers in meeting schedules sold on contracts and communicate with applicable modes of transportation such as transloaders, ocean carriers, drayage companies and suppliers regarding shipping schedules and transport issues.
- Arrange freight from origin to destination meeting the schedule. Monitor progress against the shipping plan. Constant communication with all stakeholders in the supply chain including origins, destinations, service providers, freight providers.
- Ensure that disruptions to meet the schedules are anticipated and proactively addressed.
- Ensure that all rates, traffic lanes, and associated costs are accurately incurred; investigating and disputing any inaccuracies with appropriate parties with the goal to confirm and reduce costs Responsible for auditing all origin and destination demurrage and detention claims, taking the lead to acquire all necessary information to convey to Merchandisers, sales and/or Logistics Manager.
- Track activity and keep information updated in our transportation system. Complete scheduled reports, special projects, and additional tasks, or other job functions within your team. Initiate the documentation process

Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
