We are seeking a talented Construction Superintendent with 10 years of experience in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will live in or near the Chicagoland area, have at least 5 years of experience managing construction projects in this market, and be willing to travel 20% of the year, if needed.
As Construction Superintendent, you will oversee and coordinate all field activities and assist with administrative aspects of our projects from preconstruction through closeout. It is important the candidate has earned a reputation of working well with architects, clients, office staff, field staff, and subcontractors. This position will require a willingness to go beyond the scope of general job descriptions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and thoroughly understand the entire project scope
- Review and thoroughly understand the project documentation
- Perform jobsite setup including temp utilities, permanent utilities, dumpsters, job trailers, barricades, fencing, signage, etc.
- Run Field Foreman Meetings to communicate our expectations for each week.
- Develop a relationship with owner’s onsite personnel.
- Manage cost related to base contract, change orders and T&M requests.
- Prepare the four-week look ahead and review against master schedule weekly
- Prepare daily journal reports for onsite construction activity
- Coordinate subcontractors on-site to complete work to our company's high workmanship standards
- Manage job site to ensure safety procedures are followed, quality control standards are met, equipment and techniques are used properly and to check production.
- Manage completion of final inspections, occupancy requirements, as-built drawings, and punch list during closeout of projects.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- General understanding related to managing a construction project quality, schedule, and budget
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with a desire to learn new systems
- Experience using project management software
- Ability to be a team player performing various production support tasks
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 10 years experience as a Construction Superintendent
- 5 experience managing construction projects in the Chicago, IL area
- 5 years experience managing vertical construction projects
- Served at Lead Superintendent on construction projects $10MM or greater in size
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel to job site and vendor locations in the greater Chicagoland area.
- Be responsible and accountable for his / her projects
- Have strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Be strongly committed to safety
