POSITION SUMMARY:

A Software Development Manager at Noregon oversees and guides the development of highly engineered software applications and systems. The role involves planning, project management, stakeholder relationship building, and leadership to ensure that software products meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget. The Software Development Manager takes ownership of all aspects of a project, the applicable engineering processes, the development, and performance of team members, and ultimately the project’s success.

To Employees: Supports project objectives through planning, management, leadership, and mentorship.

To Executives: Provides visibility to status, issues, and risks and represents the company’s image consistent to its values and keeping with company objectives.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES, but not limited to:

  • Team Leadership – Build, mentor, and lead a team of software engineers.
  • Project Management – Plan, execute, monitor, and close projects successfully by managing scope, timelines, budgets, resources, issues, and risks.
  • Strategic and Tactical Planning – Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders to establish product goals and requirements, select technologies, and drive the direction of assigned software products.
  • Technical Oversight – Oversee the technical process, ensuring architectural integrity, and adherence to established processes and best practices. Works with stakeholders and leads the development team to define and develop requirements and design specifications.
  • Quality Assurance – Execute quality assurance processes, monitor quality metrics, and manage the delivery of high quality, reliable and scalable software products.
  • Process Improvement – Continually assess development, administrative and management processes and actively participate in continual improvement efforts.
  • Collaboration – Act as liaison between the development team and other departments and stakeholders such as Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support.
  • Reporting – Provide continuous visibility to project and product status, issues, and risks. Follow company policies for reporting/requesting changes to milestones, budgets, and resources.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Completion of assigned projects within stated timelines, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Development and maintenance of a positive team culture and a highly productive work environment through management, leadership and mentoring of employees.
  • Skill progression through ongoing education and training in the profession of software development.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or similar.
  • 8 years’ experience with software development, including project management, personnel management, and technical leadership roles.
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with project management tools – MS Project (Online) and Azure DevOps preferred. Certifications in project management (PMP, Agile, SCRUM) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development life cycle, including waterfall and Agile/Lean methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of software engineering principles and best practices as well as experience using various programming languages and development tools and technologies.
  • Experience with architecture design and technical decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively deal with employees and customers at all levels. Must demonstrate tact, good judgment, and great composure.
  • Ability to work onsite in Greensboro, NC. This is not a remote position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time and extensive computer usage are required.
  • Talking, hearing and close vision abilities are required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional local, domestic, and international travel may be required, <15%
  • Own transportation is required for local travel.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
