Job Summary
The Data Architect's responsibility is to enhance the organization's strategic use of data to achieve its goals and objectives. This is accomplished by the strategic design, development, and implementation of data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. The data models will be structured at various layers: conceptual, logical, business area, and application. This role serves as the main proponent of data modeling methodologies and best practices in data processing.
Essential Functions
(Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities)
- Provides enterprise and project level architecture planning and solutions for all data initiatives.
- Contributes to the development of enterprise architecture technology roadmaps and develops, communicates, and publishes sound documentation for enterprise integration, application, and data architecture, strategies, and standards.
- In cooperation with other Enterprise Architects and lead developers, develops, adopts, and puts into enterprise-wide practice data standards and design patterns.
- Enforces best practices, design patterns, and defines standards.
- Mentors team members to ensure quality delivery.
- Works closely with developers, application admins, data analytics teams, business partners, and vendors to enforce standards and ensure quality.
- Provides and communicates project level solution design and solutions to project and development teams.
- Develops, implements, and maintains an organizational data architecture to include but not limited to:
- Enterprise data management frameworks
- Data model designs
- Database development standards
- End-to-end data solutions
- Data warehouse and data analytics systems design
- Data visualization standards and design
- Establishes processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of metadata.
- Establishes methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.
- Conducts data capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
- Works closely with other Enterprise Architects to create strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving.
- Ensures data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
- Evaluates, recommends, and selects data warehouse components, including hardware, database management systems, ETL (extract, transform, load) software, data mining tools, and meta data management tools.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field OR a combination of education and related equivalent work experience determined by HR.
- 10 years of data architect or related experience of which 5 years were spent in the healthcare industry.
- Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
- Strong understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools.
- Advanced technical/professional knowledge and skills, closing (problem resolution) ability, analytical thinking, business acumen, and negotiation and collaboration skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 years of data architect or related experience of which 10 years were spent in the healthcare industry.
Environment and Cognitive/Physical Demands
- Office environment
- Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
- Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
- Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
- Infrequent lifting to 15 pounds

Below is the salary range for potential new hires.
Salary Range: $104,831.40 - $172,420.71
Other Compensation: Incentive Plan
