Job Summary

The Process Coach reports directly to the Production Supervisor, Assembly. This position is responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor with all aspects related to assembly line processes, and is responsible for assisting the production team in achieving results through; training, coaching and mentoring of defined processes, continuous safety focus, process and product quality, workplace organization (5S), product delivery, and other key performance indicators. In addition, they will also assist team members to understand and comply with the company’s defined standard work practices and safety procedures. They will provide support and train operators in the Nortek Production System tools and methodologies. Foster employee involvement and communication by maintaining the Level 1 boards and facilitate and/or lead daily meetings to provide an environment for continuous improvement of safety and manufacturing processes. This role is critical to implementing and maintaining a world-class manufacturing culture, including but not limited to; lean production principles, coach-first environment, cross-functional team projects, and problem solving.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits the ability to learn and perform all job processes related to the SPLC fabrication assembly line and responsible to train new employees.
  • Actively reviews safety policies and practices within your area(s) of responsibility and sets the expectations and involvement of your team.
  • Identifies and implements solutions for improvements in safety, quality, and productivity, by utilizing strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Exhibits skills for being a strong, team-oriented, employee that can prioritize and perform multiple tasks as required.
  • Assists in the implementation, maintenance, and compliance of Workplace Organization (5S) in the respective areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure duties are carried out in a respectful presence to all employees, including verbal and/or written communication.
  • Exhibits problem solving and troubling shooting skills to ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems.
  • Reads and understands fabrication and assembly drawings and can synthesize to others.
  • Actively supports and synthesizes Nortek’s Core Beliefs: Live Safe, One Team, Own It, Ignite Change, Legacy Now
  • Maintains an attitude which consistently represents the organizational culture, including: the mission, vision and core attributes
  • Other Ad hoc duties as assigned by manager 
  • Supports “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have an energetic, results-oriented perspective and be able to motive your team to sustain excellence.
  • Experience in a mixed-model manufacturing environment, using lean principles is preferred.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules.
  • Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and backgrounds.
  • Ability to act calmly and complete tasks under stress.
  • Reliable, dependable, and trustworthy with all actions related.

 

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates full knowledge and understanding of production processes and methods.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily tasks for large assembly teams.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner, always keeping in mind respect for others.
  • Ability to problem solve and give solutions for line issues with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to create an energic environment for employees.
  • Must always have the ability to wear all required PPE, safety sensitive position.

Preferred

  • In-depth manufacturing process experience.
  • Industry related technical training and/or degree.
  • Understanding of general safety requirements.
  • The application and use of lean principles.
  • Professional communication and organization skills.
  • Basic understanding of material process flow from raw to finished product.
