Portfolio Loan Officer – Non-Conforming Lending

We are currently looking for a Portfolio Loan Officer to join our Residential Sales Team and originate Non-Conforming QM loans (“Non-QM”)
Job Summary
The Portfolio Loan Officer will be responsible for converting Non-QM leads and referrals to closed mortgage loans. A Portfolio Loan Officer specializes in originating loans that do not meet the standard qualifications of an agency or government conforming loan. A Portfolio Loan Officer will exhibit a high motivation for success, sound judgment, independent decision making, and ability to follow all guidelines, policies and procedures established by NASB. We provide an array of Non-Conforming QM solutions to millions of underserved borrowers that do not meet traditional mortgage guidelines. We offer and originate mortgages in all 50 states.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate Non-QM Loans by working closely with borrowers who don't qualify for traditional mortgage loans to understand their financial situations and recommend suitable non-conforming loan products, such as Bank Statement Loans, DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio) Loans, Flex, and 1099 Loans.
- Ability to identify and sell non-conforming lending products to customers that are non-traditional borrowers.
- Call NASB provided Non-QM leads and accurately update lead records in NASB’s lead management system in a manner consistent with company guidelines/policies.
- Relationship and referral building: Develop and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, referrals, and personal contacts to build and maintain a strong client base.
- Construct a complete and an accurate 1003 loan application while utilizing multiple technology options.
- Collect all applicable information from the customer before submitting the file to processing/underwriting to ensure file quality expectations are met.
- Work closely with the operations staff to help address and facilitate problem solving on escalated issues and find timely resolutions.
- Provide superior internal and external customer service that exceeds the customer’s expectations.
- Complete required periodic training for regulatory compliance in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Maintain a work schedule and required working hours consistent with departmental policy, which will include some evening and weekend hours as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/Accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years mortgage experience and 3 years of functional working knowledge of Residential Lending sales and operations experience.
- General knowledge around mortgage product offerings and Non-QM loan products.
- Ability to understand and lead through complex transactions, multiple property types, markets, and varying loan structures and their impact on security of collateral.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal communication.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities while working in a high-pressure environment.
- Adaptability and agility to quickly learn new and changing technology advancements.
- Effective business communication skills (both oral and written).
- Excellent time management, detail oriented and organizational skills.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude focused on success and a strong team culture.
