Overview:
Previous office / clerical skills, accurate typing skills and computer knowledge
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Ability to read write speak and understand English.
Responsible for greeting patients, verifying insurance coverage and eligibility, reviewing new patient registration and entering new patient information into the computer system at an outpatient care site.
Responsibilities:
Register patients in ECW and Meditech as they sign into the clinic.
Interviews incoming patients and enters information required for record keeping such as name, address, age, person to notify in case of emergency, individual and insurance company responsible for payment of the bill into the patient’s medical record and into the computer.
May explain clinic regulations such as hours of operation, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges.
Collect any co-pays that apply and check process accounts for any other collectable accounts. Post payments to accounts, print receipt.
Logging of super-bill number, patient name, and provider (see attached form).
Prepare chart for provider (new dated progress note and super-bill).
Schedules appointments for examinations by the provider staff and perform the duty of confirming appointments one business day prior to the appointment. Remind the patient of the co-pay amount they will be responsible for at the time of the visit.
Enter charges for encounter to patient’s account through ITS.
Verifying Medicaid eligibility and requesting referrals from patients PCP if needed.
Verifying all new insurance.
Process incoming mail separating insurance checks, remittance advice, and other correspondence.
Scan mail to NARMC folder.
May perform routine clerical tasks such as customer service, answering phones, and filing, typing and assisting with correspondence and general bookkeeping procedures.
Have knowledge in preparing daily and monthly reports that are to be sent to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center to include balancing the cash drawer and performing the remote deposit of checks and preparing the deposit slip for the cash deposit as needed to back up the Clerical Specialist Level I.
Able to perform the following procedures:
- LAB REGISTRATIONS FOR EARLY AM LABS
- ALL CHARTS ON SCHEDULE PULLED FOR THE DAY
- CHARTS RETURNED FROM CLERICAL SPECIALIST LEVEL I, SEPARATE SUPER-BILL, SCAN TO MEDICAL RECORDS
- REVIEW CHART, SCAN APPLICABLE FORMS TO MEDICAL RECORDS FOR CODING
- FILE CHART IN MEDICAL RECORDS ROOM
- ASSIST NURSES WITH FAXES FROM PHARMACY
- BACKUP ANSWERING PHONES/WINDOW DUTIES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
- PICK UP MAIL DAILY AND MAKE DEPOSIT
- UPDATE ALL CHARTS AND FILE DAILY
- VERIFY MEDICAID AND INSURANCE
- RESPONSIBLE FOR DAILY FILE COMPLETED
- ANY REPORTING REQUESSED FORM CLINICS TO BE DEFINED BY CLERICAL SPECIALIST I

Required
