Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Take patient medical histories and ask questions needed in room to reconcile meds and medical history
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
-Package and label biopsy samples taken
- Assist with suture removals and laser for psoriasis
- Provide patient education on treatment plans and medications
-Answer MA phones for clinical questions, authorize refills, do prior authorizations needed for medication approval and also submit biologic paperwork required for biologic drugs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent or completion of a medical assistant program
- Great hands on experience for a person taking a gap year or two in between medical school or other health career programs
- Can do positive attitude that is willing and able to work in a team setting and independently
- Ability to take constructive feedback without getting defensive or combative. We are a team Afterall!
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology helpful but not required since Dermatology medical terminology will need to be learned if no prior derm experience
