User Support Technician - Anson County

Reporting to the Administrative Officer III at a multi custody correctional facility, this position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Providing consultation, support, and/or training to users of computer or other information technology-based systems located throughout the facility.
  • Providing basic support of hardware, software, operating systems and networking.  
  • Requiring a basic knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support users’ technical needs. 
  • Interacting with a broad range of users requiring strong communication skills and utilizing a variety of technical resources for providing technical support.  
  • Providing routine support for a broad range of information-related technologies and/or providing in-depth support for a narrowly defined area of technology.
  • This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.
 
Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is DT04 (Salary Range: $52,809 - $79,214). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Anson Correctional Institution:
Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in close and medium custody housing units and male offenders in a minimum custody unit. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs for men and women. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Documented experience analyzing problems, projecting needed repairs and making effective recommendations concerning computer hardware and software issues.
  • Documented knowledge of computer hardware and software, to include Microsoft Office 365 and Windows 10. 
  • Documented experience providing effective technical support over the phone and in person utilizing good customer service.
  • Documented experience effectively and accurately operating various office machines (i.e. computers, tables, copiers, fax machine and telephones systems).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the field of technology related to the position's role. 
  • Coursework in computer or information technology may be substituted year-for-year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
