What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Assistant IV position at North Carolina Dept of Health and Human Services?
This position is housed at the Kinston VR office in Kinston, NC. The selected candidate for this position reports directly to the Counselor-In-Charge, processes documents and completes requests for clerical work by the assigned counselors, Counselor- In-Charge, Lead Office Assistant, Other Office Support Staff, and Unit Manager. This position serves as the front desk receptionist and first point of contact for the office. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the public and answering a multi-line telephone system. This person provides clerical services, issues authorizations for services and claims processing (billing) for 2 caseloads in the Kinston VR Office.
Job responsibilities include the following:
- Gathering diagnostic data to assist the counselors in determining eligibility and developing a plan of services
- Assisting counselor in determining eligibility and developing a plan of services
- Providing follow up with consumers, vendors and community resources

Assisting counselors in managing budgets, and ensuring goals are effectively
met and completing all assigned administrative tasks - Operation of computer, printer, copy machine and telephone are essential for essential for the performance or this position.
- Other equipment may be used in the office setting. Incumbent will also work with management/LOA in providing support to special projects (purging files, inventory).

Casework support for other caseloads may be required to ensure office and
caseload coverage.

- Able to prioritize work assignments from staff to meet deadlines

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience;
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
