Cherry Hospital is a state-owned psychiatric facility administered under the North Carolina Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). The primary mission is to provide excellent, psychiatric care to individuals with the greatest needs and the fewest resources. Our Philosophy is that, as a human service organization, anything and everything done within the hospital shall be done for the purpose of improving the quality of service to our customers. The primary purpose of this position is to perform quantitative analysis of all medical records using the audit tool that is specific for the review, track deficiencies and monitor deficiencies for completion. Data entry of all deficiencies are entered into a database, which compiles and sorts specific reports according to unit and department for management and deficiency notifications.

Cherry Hospital (CH) is a State-of-the-Art psychiatric hospital located in a beautiful rural area of Goldsboro, NC. Although rural, Cherry Hospital is convenient to the Triangle Area (Raleigh/Durham) and the coastal region of the state. It is about an hour drive to the heart of Raleigh or the beautiful coastal town of New Bern.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Must have knowledge of a HIM Department setting, medical and psychiatric terminology, general statutes and state regulations regarding psychiatric settings and an excellent understanding of HIPAA confidentiality guidelines.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other employees within the hospital and must possess the ability to work in a setting that houses mentally ill patients and treat them in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to work independently under moderate pressure and be able to meet timeframes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
