What are the responsibilities and job description for the Base Camp Content Coordinator position at North Carolina Outward Bound School?
Founded in 1967, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) is a charter member of the leading outdoor education network in the world. Our wilderness courses, from the mountains of North Carolina to the shores of south Florida to the peaks of South America, deliver our mission to change lives through challenge and discovery. The Advancement Department is looking to add a Seasonal Base Camp Content Coordinator to the team.
This position will assist the Associate Director of Marketing in creating fresh, creative digital, and print content that supports both the goals and mission of the School. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate skills in creative writing, have an understanding of social media platforms, and will be detail oriented and self-motivated.
The Seasonal Base Camp Content Coordinator will ideally live as part of the Table Rock Base Camp community located in Jonas Ridge, NC where housing will be provided. Being on base will provide better access to viable content. The Content Coordinator will begin in March 30 and continue for a period of five months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create various content types (videos, blogs, photos) with relevant tone and style
• Capture photos of students and instructors while on course to better tell certain stories
• Support in the filming and editing of video content as needed
• Organize and maintain an archive of student photos in both Photo Station and Facebook
• Familiarize yourself with Outward Bound’s brand to better support our objectives and desired identity
• Edit٫ proofread, and improve upon other posts, blogs and team content when necessary
• Target content to specific audiences and focus on trending topics
• Stay abreast of current best practices in the industry and review competitor websites to compare activities
• Analyze traffic to measure the success of the content
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• A comprehension and familiarity with social media platforms and best practices
• A sense of curiosity in identifying and solving problems
• An interest in journalism, communication, marketing, public relations, or other related fields
• A creative thinker, not afraid to offer up ideas for new ways to reach our audience
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications • Professional demeanor
• Be self-motivated and well organized
• Must have reliable transportation
• Full Vaccination against Covid-19
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
• Have knowledge of Outward Bound
• Training in such platforms as Hootsuite, Canva, Sked Social, Google Analytics, Wordpress
• Proficiency filming video
• Graphic design skills
• Experience in the outdoors
• Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification
Salary and Benefits:
• Room and board at the base camp
• $100/per diem (20-22 days a month)
