Transform people’s lives. NDSU Extension empowers North Dakotans to improve their lives and communities through science-based education.

Lead dynamic 4-H Youth Development Extension programs in Williams County, North Dakota and help youth and adults reach their full potential as capable, competent and caring citizens.

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities :

Develop, plan, deliver, facilitate, and evaluate successful, research-based educational programs in 4-H Youth Development that result in positive community impacts.

Listen to clientele, build networks to assess locals needs and collaborate with communities of people.

• Reach youth and adult audiences. Be a voice in mass and social media outreach.
• Provide leadership of Williams County 4-H program including the development of 4-H volunteers.
• Be willing and able to travel and adjust to a flexible schedule (i.e., participate in evening and weekend programs).

Location :

Williams County is located in northwest North Dakota and is bordered by Montana to the west and the Missouri River to the south.

It is home to more than 40,000 people and is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. Williams County is also one of North Dakota’s youngest counties in terms of median age, with approximately 30 percent of residents are under the age of 18.

Energy and agriculture are the two key sectors of the county’s economy. Williston, the county seat, is home to 27,000 people and serves as a regional retail and business center.

Williston has ample shopping and restaurant options, along with daily flights in and out of the Williston Basin International Airport.

Williston is near the confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers and offers hunting and fishing opportunities, access to nearby historic sites like Fort Union Trading Post and Fort Buford, a state-of-the-art indoor recreation center, and several golf courses.

Work Schedule :

• Monday through Friday
• 8 : 00 A.M. to 5 : 00 P.M.
• Some weekend and evening work required

Advertised Salary :

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in education, communication, youth development, social work or related discipline appropriate to the position required by date of hire with the academic capacity to successfully enroll in a relevant graduate program in the future.
• The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to use technology for communication, information finding, program delivery, and reporting.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and through mass media and social media.
• Ability to conduct oneself professionally, be self-directed in the work environment and work flexible and extended hours.
• Familiarity with various ethnic and socioeconomic audiences, and an interest and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Personal experience with 4-H or other organization focused on positive youth development.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Master’s degree in a discipline appropriate to position description.
• Experience in recruiting and managing volunteers and / or planning and managing events.
• Teaching experience in a formal or informal setting.
• Ability to design, promote, implement and evaluate educational programs.
• Experience with problem solving, conflict management and / or relationship building.
