Position Information

This position works with adults with limited income with children in the household and youth from limited-income households.

The position is supervised by the NDSU Extension Central District Director. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities :

Location :

This position is located in the Burleigh County NDSU Extension Office, which is located in Bismarck, the capital city of North Dakota, and is the county seat of Burleigh County.

The city's population was 73,622 in the 2020 census. The city has developed around downtown Bismarck, the streets of downtown are lined with small stores and restaurants.

Also downtown are the two hospitals, Kirkwood Mall, and the Bismarck Event Center. The western border of Bismarck is marked by the Missouri River, a hub for outdoor enthusiasts in the summer time.

There are numerous hiking trails and bike baths that take you along the river and allow you to experience the beauty of North Dakota.

The Bismarck Municipal Airport is the premier airport for central and western North Dakota.

Work Schedule : Monday Friday

8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Advertised Salary :

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Evidence of course work, professional development, or work experience related to the position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated communication skills oral, written, listening.
  • Evidence of experience in keeping accurate and complete records.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing work and working independently.
  • Familiarity with various ethnic and socioeconomic audiences, an interest and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to the principles of diversity.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Personal vehicle for regular use, valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Related work experience in food and nutrition education.
  • Demonstrated work or volunteer experience with limited resource families.
  • Leadership and / or teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of area and existing community services.
