Summary: The Senior Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator will provide support and technical guidance to a team of 500 people across a 24-hour, two 12-hour shift operation. The Sr. HSE Coordinator will assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring business-level HSE systems. Additionally, they will support management with compliance reporting and HSE-related activities.
This person will play a key leadership role within the overall safety of plant team members and health programs. This role will be a key support to the Vice President HSE. This leader will foster a positive culture that aligns with NSBSL’s core values.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:- Partner with the HSE Team Leader to administer health, safety & emergency response activities to comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations NSBSL policies.
- Collaborate with Site Leadership to ensure proper Health and Safety protocols, plans and initiatives are in place and consistently followed.
- Continue to evolve our health and safety culture within the operations using Human Organizational Performance (HOP) Tools.
- Coordinate the HSE incident reporting systems and learning teams (Incident Investigation) framework.
- Development and execution of tactical and strategic plans to improve Health and Safety performance.
- Drive process improvement initiatives in support of HSE performance.
- Accountable for the creation and execution of monthly safety training materials/new hire orientation.
- Lead the site Business Continuity Plan (Emergency Action Plan).
- Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling for air, noise, and other environmental stressors.
- Recordkeeping administrator, including OSHA 300 Log.
- Injury management, including Worker’s Compensation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety, or related field.
- 7 years of experience in prior health and safety role.
- 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to multi-task and the ability to manage shifting priorities and projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong planning, organizational, group facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to evaluate needs, programs, Health and Safety strategic plans and performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
- Ability to interface with all levels of team members and organizational functions.
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise across all levels both internally and externally.
Preferred Qualifications:- Steel industry experience.
- CSP, CSHO, or equivalent Safety Certification.
