FUNCTION: To assist the Activities Director in the coordination, development and implementation of a comprehensive activities program that meets the individual needs of the residents.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, incumbent will possess the mental abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

Job Description
Certificates, Licenses, Registration: Valid state Driver’s License with good driving record and CDL as required by Community, Food Handlers Permit, CPR & First Aid
Certification.
Equipment Used: Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions. Mechanical lifts on community van. Appliances such as popcorn machine, basic cooking elements may be used as well as other small hand operated equipment for various activities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral English and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary setting with residents, families, staff members, representatives of community and visitors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic knowledge of math functions – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to develop, understand and track activities program budget and attendance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to analyze problems and develop workable solutions and goals. Must be able to implement written or oral programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Activities Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS RATING COMMENTS
1. At the direction of the activities director, provides direct recreation services to the residents of the facility. Direct service programming includes but is not limited to, group programs, one to one programs and providing support to residents that wish to engage in self-directed activities.
2. May be responsible for completing the recreation assessment and appropriate sections of the MDS for assigned residents
3. In coordination with the activities director, helps with the writing of recreation program descriptions.
4. Ensures that all documentation required by state and federal regulations and Stellar corporate policy is written in a timely fashion.
5. May participate in interdisciplinary care plan meeting
6. In conjunction with the Activities Director, helps to create opportunities for residents to interact with the community at large through the development of outside trips, volunteer programs and arts and entertainment programs.
7. Under the direction of the Director of
Activities, assesses the effectiveness of recreational programming through daily attendance sheets, and resident/family surveys
8. Develops and provides one to one programming for residents who are unable or unwilling to participate in-group programs
9. Ensures that all appropriate residents get to the activity.
10. Complies with facility policies and procedures for workplace safety including infection control procedures, application of universal precautions for blood borne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment and handling of hazardous materials.
