Job Summary and Qualifications

• The Division Infection Prevention Director is responsible for the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the infection prevention and control programs for System. Implementation is accomplished through performing surveillance, consultation and education regarding prevention and control activities under the direction of the AVP IP.
• The Infection Prevention Director serves as an internal consultant in regards to data collection, analysis, reporting and team facilitation in relation to improving patient outcomes related to health care associated infections and infectious diseases.
• The Infection Prevention Director is responsible for coordination, facilitation and leadership of infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.
• The Infection Prevention Director will serve as a project lead for infection prevention initiatives across the system and will be expected to develop skills in specialty focus areas to support the work of the department.
• Position will require occasional travel to the hospitals. Position will also be utilized to temporarily fill open Infection Prevention positions in hospitals throughout the division.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, public health or other health-related field is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Current state professional license or certification/registration as required by field of practice is required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in infection prevention and control and healthcare epidemiology in the acute care setting is preferred.

CERTIFICATION:

• Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) is required. May obtain within 1 year of hire.
