North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance / military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.
POSITION PURPOSE :
The Laborer shall perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. Performs manual and skilled labor tasks such as collecting debris from work site, and using tools and equipment such as : hand tools, hand held power tools, and small-mechanized equipment to provide labor support on a variety of construction projects.
May tend pumps, compressors, and generators. Load, unload, identify, and distribute site materials to the appropriate location according to project plans.
Assist with setting / reading survey grade stakes (cut and fills).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Working in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather and difficult terrains
- Lifting and carrying materials such as pipe, moving hoses, decontaminating equipment and materials, flagging, and other strenuous tasks
- Inspect, maintain, and operate assigned manual and power tools.
- Operation of tools in a safe and efficient manner. (chain saws, jumping jack, etc.)
- Requires strict reliability to be on the assigned project site at the designated start time.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and understand safety policies and procedures
- Safely execute work assignments
- Notify appropriate personnel of issues needing management attention.
- Follow North Wind and client procedures.
- May be required to maintain work log or other project paperwork, as applicable.
- Maintain contemporaneous timesheets and submit on a weekly basis.
- Work independently or with others on a crew to complete daily assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
High Diploma or equivalent
Skills and Abilities :
- Ability to work safely and efficiently
- Ability to regularly move at least 60-lbs manually
- Ability to follow supervisory verbal and written instructions and designated health and safety requirements.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions or difficult terrain
Special Requirements :
- Current OSHA Hazardous Waste 40 hr training is a requirement.
- Must have a valid driver license
- Must pass pre-employment background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Applicants are required to have REAL ID ACT compliant documentation at time of hire and nothing on record that would prohibit you from gaining access to Department of Energy sites
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms;
The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 60 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
The majority of the work will involve manual labor tasks in outdoor conditions and often in inclement weather. Terrain may be steep and in mountainous terrain.
